We are currently supporting a number of high‑priority public sector programmes where Security Clearance (SC) is required to deliver at pace. Demand is strong, and we are actively looking to grow a pool of consultants who are ready to step into this work - either because they already hold SC, or because they are clearly eligible to obtain it.

This role sits within our Transformation Excellence team and is focused on public sector delivery. Over time, your work will span both public and private sector engagements, depending on demand, interest and opportunity.

The opportunity

This is a delivery‑focused role for experienced consultants who want to work on high‑impact public sector programmes without being locked into a narrow or niche career path.

SC clearance matters because some of our current client work involves sensitive environments, and we need consultants who can be deployed quickly and confidently. That said, not all Gate One work requires clearance, and this role is not designed to limit your future opportunities or development.

We are intentionally open to hiring at Consultant or Senior Consultant level. If you’re a strong consultant with relevant experience but unsure which band you sit in, we’d still encourage you to apply.

You will

Deliver high‑quality public sector engagements

• Work on complex public sector transformation programmes, supporting or leading workstreams depending on your experience level.

• Apply strong consulting craft - problem‑solving, structure, communication and delivery discipline - to produce high‑quality outputs.

• Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders in fast‑paced, delivery‑critical environments.

Operate flexibly across engagements

• Be deployable into SC‑required work where needed, while also contributing to non‑cleared engagements over time.

• Work across a range of transformation topics, which may include operating model change, digital and technology, data, service transformation or people‑led change.

• Adapt quickly to different client contexts, priorities and delivery styles.

Contribute to the wider Gate One team

• Collaborate closely with colleagues across Transformation Excellence and the wider firm.

• Support knowledge sharing, capability development and internal initiatives where appropriate.

• At Senior Consultant level, coach more junior colleagues and take greater ownership of delivery and stakeholder management.

Who we are looking for

You must have experience working within a management consulting environment, with a strong focus on client delivery.

You will also bring:

• Experience delivering work for public sector clients (central government, arms‑length bodies or similar environments).

• Either active SC clearance, or clear eligibility to obtain SC.

  • If you do not currently hold SC, this typically requires at least 5 years’ continuous UK residency, among other criteria.

• Strong consulting fundamentals - structured thinking, clear communication, and the ability to deliver at pace.

• Experience owning workstreams or contributing meaningfully to larger programmes, depending on your level.

• Comfort working in delivery‑led environments where priorities can shift and pragmatism matters.
